FINGER VP device, presented at Biometrics 2009 show
At the Biometrics 2009 show, which took place at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Westminster in London from 20th-22nd October, Hitachi Europe's IFG showcased the latest Hitachi security product, a multi-modal finger vein and fingerprint device, which was jointly developed with security company Sagem Sécurité.
This new device combines Hitachi's Finger Vein imaging (VeinID) to detect the pattern of blood vessels under the skin, and Sagem Sécurité's fingerprint identification technology (Morpho). It is the only multi-modal device capable of simultaneously capturing and processing two sets of biometric data – it captures fingerprint and finger vein pattern at the same time. FINGER VP is being geared for mass roll-out in 2010 and is designed to be used either standalone or integrated into a vast range of end-user devices, e.g. access control terminals, ATMs, mobile devices for identity checks and secure payments.
