The European R&D Centre (ERD) of Hitachi Europe Limited was established in April 1989, leading its research and development activities in Europe. Now it is focusing in the following areas; nanoelectronics, social infrastructure technology (transportation and energy) and information technology.

ERD has long recognised the necessity of working with complementary partners in Europe to create revolutionary concepts and technologies to keep abreast with the increasing changes of technology. ERD are proud to offer such a working environment for their talented staff.

European R&D milestones

1989 Hitachi Cambridge Laboratory was established collaborating with the Microelectronics Research Centre of Cambridge University.

1989 Hitachi Design Centre Europe was established.

2000 Hitachi Sophia-Antipolis Laboratory (HSAL) was established for Mobile Communication R&D

 

 

2005 Automotive R&D Laboratory (ADL) was established.

2008 HSAL was renamed as ICT Laboratory.
