HITACHI CLASS 395 TRAIN MAKES UK'S FIRST DOMESTIC HIGH SPEED PASSENGER VOYAGE

LONDON, 18 JUNE 2009 - Hitachi today celebrates the first high speed passenger journey of its Class 395 between Ashford International, Ebbsfleet International and St Pancras International. At the invitation of Southeastern, members of the media and key stakeholders were welcomed on board the Hitachi-built trains today to experience the new trains first hand. On time delivery and the successful completion of 4,000 miles ‘fault free’ running has enabled Southeastern to launch a limited ‘Preview’ service, starting 29 June, nearly six months early.

HITACHI CONSULTING ACQUIRES UK IT CONSULTING FIRM, EDENBROOK LTD.

London - April 8, 2009 - Hitachi Consulting, the global business and IT consulting company of Hitachi Ltd., today announced that it has acquired Edenbrook Ltd., a United Kingdom-based IT consulting firm which specialises in delivering Microsoft and Oracle solutions. Edenbrook's client base includes Virgin Media, easyjet, BUPA, Lloyds TSB and Whitbread.

CLASS 465 TRAINS WITH NEW HITACHI TRACTION DRIVE HANDED BACK TO SOUTHEASTERN AS SCHEDULED

LONDON, 23 MARCH 2009 - Hitachi Europe Rail Group today announced that the first Class 465 unit with Hitachi traction technology have been handed back to Southeastern on schedule and this prototype unit will start revenue service today.

Hitachi was contracted to replace the traction equipment on the 465/0 and 465/1 Networker units. The project is on schedule. Starting in April 2009, the modification of the full fleet will commence at Ashford lasting until April 2010.

Tokyo, February 24, 2009 - The Centre for Process Innovation Ltd. (“CPI”), Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT / TSE:6501, “Hitachi”) and Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation (TSE:8036, “Hitachi High-Technologies”) have agreed to begin a joint evaluation aimed at developing applications for direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) and creating a viable business in the U.K.
