Agreement on Joint Research on Electric Power field with Energy Company LESTO and Kaunas University of Technology in Lithuania

Tokyo, Japan, August 28, 2014 --- Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501, “Hitachi”) announced today that they have begun joint research with three American universities – the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of Michigan (U-M), and the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) – aimed at using Transuranium Elements (TRUs(1)) as fuel, and the development of Resource-renewable Boiling Water Reactors (RBWRs) that enable the effective use of uranium resources.

Hitachi on-board ETCS - Network Rail Contract Award

LONDON, August 6, 2014 - Hitachi Rail Europe Ltd. today announced that it has signed a contract with Network Rail for implementation of the European Train Control System (ETCS) on two Class 37 locomotives. The project work includes the design, vehicle modification, ETCS installation, testing and commissioning of Hitachi's ETCS for West Coast Railways, for operational use on the Cambrian Line European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) in Wales, for scheduled completion in August 2015.

Government of Lithuania came to an agreement with Hitachi to discuss for establishment of the Project Company for Nuclear Power Project

Tokyo, Japan, July 30, 2014 --- Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE:6501, President & COO: Toshiaki Higashihara) today announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Lithuanian Ministry of Energy recording their agreement to discuss for establishment of the Project Company (PCO) that is to manage the business, to proceed the Visaginas Nuclear Power Plant in Lithuania. In this project, all three Baltic states (Republic of Lithuania, Republic of Latvia, and Republic of Estonia) are planned to participate.

Hitachi and MIG introduce mobile Wi-Fi biometric scanners in Turkish hospitals

Istanbul, Turkey, July 9, 2014 --- Hitachi Europe Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE:6501) and MIG Int., today announced a roll-out of mobile Wi-Fi scanners that offer convenient mobile identification for the patient at the point of care. The 'BIOMIG' device, based on Hitachi's finger vein authentication technology, has been introduced at several individual private hospitals, hospital groups and dialysis centres in Turkey as well as the Memorial Healthcare Group.
