The difference is a little bit of physics… Inside the nuclear reactor, heat is generated when neutrons are used to split the atoms in rods of solid metal fuel, made from Uranium. When the atom is split, heat is released, boiling the surrounding water. The force of the resultant steam is used to rotate a turbine.
