Hitachi is the founding sponsor of the Economist Infrastructure Summit. The third event explored the most ingenious solutions to enable sustainable urban development, and had a particular focus on networks and connections.
Urban infrastructure survey findings
The Summit took place on 29th October at The Grange St Paul's hotel in London. It drew together an audience of 150 international delegates from transport, energy, digital communications, construction and finance to understand how cities are evolving. Dr Akira Maeda, the Chief Technology Officer of Hitachi's Information and Telecommunications Systems Company, spoke on a panel about the challenges facing smart cities, and we produced a research paper (PDF, 2.0Mb) based on a survey of the delegates to understand the most urgent needs for our infrastructure.
