(Hitachi; TSE: 6501 / NYSE:HIT) announced that, pursuant to a decision by the President and Chief Executive Officer made pursuant to authority granted to him at the October 29, 2009 Board of Directors meeting, Hitachi decided to issue and offer new shares and to issue 130% Call Option Attached Unsecured Convertible Bond Type Bonds with Stock Acquisition Rights (8th Series) (with inter-bond pari passu clause).

Hitachi Announces Revisions of Consolidated Interim and Full-Year Business Forecasts for Fiscal 2009

Hitachi Completes Volume Production Line for Lithium Ion Batteries used in Hybrid Electric Vehicles

Tokyo, October 23, 2009 – Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT / TSE:6501) announced that Hitachi Vehicle Energy, Ltd. (“Hitachi Vehicle Energy”; Hitachi-naka City, Ibaraki Pref.; President: Hidetaka Kawamoto), a Hitachi Group company that develops and manufactures lithium-ion (“Li-ion”) batteries for hybrid electric vehicles and other applications, has completed construction of a volume production line for 3rd-generation automotive Li-ion batteries.


LONDON, 17 AUGUST 2009 – The 29th and final Hitachi train ordered for Southeastern High Speed Services will be unloaded at the Port of Southampton today. The train will arrive in Southampton on board Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics' 67,140 GRT RoRo ship, MV Tamesis and will be transferred by DB Schenker to Hitachi's state of the art maintenance facility in Ashford for commissioning.

Hitachi Announces Strategy to Strengthen Social Innovation Business

Tokyo, July 28, 2009 – Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT / TSE:6501) today announced that the Company's Board of Directors has decided to make a public tender offers to purchase the common stock of five publicly listed companies, converting them into wholly owned subsidiaries. The five associated companies include: Hitachi Information Systems, Ltd. (TSE:9741), Hitachi Software Engineering Co., Ltd. (TSE:9694), Hitachi Systems & Services, Ltd. (TSE:3735), Hitachi Plant Technologies, Ltd. (TSE:1970) and Hitachi Maxell, Ltd. (TSE:6810).
