Settlement with the European Commission in connection with Investigation into Automotive Parts

January 27, 2016, Tokyo --------- Hitachi, Ltd. (“Hitachi” / TSE: 6501) and Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd. (“Hitachi Automotive Systems”) today announced that the companies settled with the European Commission regarding infringements of the EU competition laws relating to sales of alternators and starters to certain of their customers. As part of the settlement, Hitachi and Hitachi Automotive Systems will pay the European Commission a fine of 26.86 million euros (approx. 3.45 billion yen).

Hitachi-GE Stages Suppliers Forum for UK Nuclear Power Plant Construction Project for the First Time in Japan

Tokyo January 26 - Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy, Ltd. (“Hitachi-GE”) today announced that the company held a suppliers forum at the British Embassy in Tokyo on January 25 for the “Horizon Wylfa Newydd Project,” the project will construct a new nuclear power plant on the Isle of Anglesey off the northwest coast of Wales in the UK. It was attended by Tim Hitchens, British Ambassador to Japan, and other senior UK government officials. Part of the “Innovation is Great” campaign of the UK Government that seeks to foster partnerships between Japan and the UK.
