The plans for the two-reactor project on Anglesey, North Wales, received a positive ‘Opinion’ from the European Commission under Article 37 of the Euratom Treaty which stated that the station will not have significant health or environmental impacts on other Member States.

(TSE: 6501, “Hitachi”) announced that it has welcomed the statement from Greg Clark, UK Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, on 4 June (GMT) on the new nuclear power construction project at Wylfa Newydd on Isle of Anglesey (Horizon Project), which indicates progress in the discussions to date between the parties.
Horizon Nuclear Power has welcomed the UK Government’s announcement that discussions for its lead site, Wylfa Newydd, will progress to the next phase. The move confirms the development on the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales as the next project in the UK’s nuclear new build programme.
Formal negotiations with the UK Government will now commence, with a joint focus on ensuring Wylfa Newydd represents good value for consumers.
Horizon Nuclear Power has applied to the Planning Inspectorate for permission to build its lead project, Wylfa Newydd, on the Isle of Anglesey. It also submitted applications for four other key permits.
Horizon’s Development Consent Order (DCO) submission comprises some 41,000 pages, 440 documents and over 400 drawings all specifying the nuclear power station and associated work the company wants to develop at the Wylfa Newydd site as well as how it plans to go about it from a technical, logistical and social point of view.
