(TSE:6501) has announced it has been awarded Gazeta Bankowa’s "Recommendation for 2013" in the "Solution against digital exclusion" category for its Banking Solutions based on Finger Vein technology. Recognition of Hitachi’s solution at Poland’s most prestigious banking industry awards, follows successful implementations of the technology in a number of Poland’s banking institutions.

The judging panel highlighted the success of Finger Vein in helping financially excluded citizens of Poland gain access to regular monthly social benefits payments by using the Finger Vein technology to identify themselves at ATMs.

Tadeusz Woszczyński, Head of Security Solutions Group, Poland and CEE Region, Hitachi Europe Ltd., said: “The “Gazeta Bankowa” recommendation is a clear endorsement of how Finger Vein technology is able to address a common problem. Hitachi Europe received its award at a dedicated ceremony in Warsaw.
