Hitachi Announces Recognizing Loss on Equity-method Associate

Tokyo, March 24, 2017 --- Hitachi, Ltd. today announced that it will post an impairment loss of approximately 65 billion yen (assuming the exchange rate is 110 yen per U.S. dollar) for the commercial development of a laser-based uranium enrichment technology advanced by GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy Holdings LLC, an equity-method associate in U.S., as share of losses of investments accounted for using the equity method on consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017.
