In episode 1, Emily speaks with Paul Watson, Vice President, Global Lead Health and Life Sciences at Hitachi Vantara. Paul and his team came second in the Inspiration of the Year Global Award 2020.
His project involved creating a Digital Control Centre at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (hospital). His team used unique digital solutions to transform the hospital operations and deliver new ‘models of care'.
In episode 2, Emily speaks with Lee Wise and Tim Kidd. Lee is Head of Marketing and Tim is a Director of Local Government, both at Hitachi Solutions. Both are part of the team that won our Sustainability Award in this year’s Inspiration of the Year Global Award 2020.
Their winning project involved setting up a digital solution, the ‘Vulnerability Hub’ to support UK government during COVID-19. Working alongside over 35 councils and in partnership with Microsoft, the 'Vulnerability Hub' and subsequent solutions are now supporting in excess of 2 million citizens across the UK.
In this episode, Emily speaks with Ioannis Souflas and Efrain Tamayo. Both of whom are members of the Hitachi Europe’s Research & Development Team based in London.
Both entered separate projects in this year’s Inspiration of the Year Global Award and scored within the top 10 – a great achievement considering the high level of entries this year.
In the final episode of the series, she speaks with Shahbaz Haque, Vice President of Digital Insights, at Hitachi Vantara. He entered two projects into the Inspiration of the Year Global Award 2020 and both entries scored within the top 10. In this episode Shahbaz will be explaining more about these projects.

Mr. Dormer shares an insight into his position and how he oversees Hitachi’s environmental and sustainability journey. He explains how Hitachi is aiming to become a climate change innovator, helping governments, cities and companies cut carbon. He also explains the importance of Hitachi being a Principal Partner at COP26.
Episode 2 Season 2, Emily speaks with Lorena Dellagiovanna, Chief Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Officer, Deputy Chief Environmental Officer and Deputy General Manager of Government and External Relations Group of Hitachi, Ltd.
Ms. Dellagiovanna shares an insight into her position as Hitachi’s first Chief D&I Officer and explains the importance of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG).
