What does mobility mean to you? For Hitachi, mobility means more than helping people get from A to B. It's about making mobility more sustainable. As we keep working toward our ambitious net-zero targets, I'd like to share what we're doing to innovate and deliver change in the crucial area of sustainable mobility and how Hitachi is leading the innovation in Green Energy & Mobility. Furthermore, I would like to discuss Hitachi's vision for the future.
Electric vehicles: the catalyst for radical change
Not too long ago, there were only two carbon-intensive options for people to move around big cities: either drive privately owned vars or travel in buses and taxis that were mostly powered by diesel. Since the invention for electric vehicles (EVs), the selection has expanded with many more sustainable options.
Sustainable travel is now possible in more ways than ever before, thanks to initiatives like car-sharing programs, EV bus fleets, and electric trains. In my opinion, over the coming years, EVs will continue to be the catalyst for a radical change in people's behaviour. According to the result on the United Nations Development Program's 2024 People's Climate Vote, 72% are in favour of a quick transition away from fossil duels towards renewable energy sources.
Sustainability Innovator in Europe: How Hitachi is leading the charge in sustainable mobility
At Hitachi, our role is to develop sustainable transportation practices and move closer to zero carbon while increasing connectivity across various modes of transport, how we do that is probably more complicated than you might imagine.
