Under the banner of “Hitachi Inspire Life”, Japanese engineering and IT giant Hitachi is staging an event to present the full breadth of its technologies to customers and other stakeholders from all over Europe. This three-day exhibition will include demonstrations of some of Hitachi's “future technologies” in Europe.
22nd April 2008 – Hitachi Europe Ltd. today announced that the 14th annual teacher exchange programme, HISTEP, organised by the company will take place from 30th April – 4th May 2008. HISTEP is a teacher exchange programme organised by Hitachi to promote communication and cultural understanding among North American, European and Japanese nations by means of a cross-cultural secondary school teachers' exchange and educational programme.
21st April 2008 – Hitachi Europe Ltd. today announced that the 11th EU Hitachi Science and Technology Forum will be hosted at Sheraton Arabellapark Hotel in Munich on 26th and 27th April 2008, bringing together European experts, Forum members, representatives from industry, NGOs and academia to debate the topic: “Ageing Society and Technology”.
Electrabel, E.ON Kraftwerke and Hitachi intend to cooperate in a joint research project. Target of the project is to design, build and operate a test facility to investigate the behaviour of different solvents in the process for CO2 capture from flue gases. The main aim of the project is the execution of scrubbing tests under real flue gas conditions with different chemical solvents.

London – 20th February 2008: Following the introduction of its Class 395 bullet train to the UK in 2007, Hitachi Europe has announced that it is running a trial alongside Network Rail to test and introduce its ETCS-compatible signalling system. The system is based on the highly reliable Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system that is used in Tokyo, the most congested metropolitan area in Japan, as well as on the Shinkansen, Japanese Bullet Train.
Duisburg/Johannesburg 13 November 2007 Hitachi Power Europe GmbH (HPE) and its subsidiary Hitachi Power Africa (Pty) Ltd have received an order valued at some EUR 2 billion (ZAR20 billion) from ESKOM, the South African Electricity Utility. HPE is to supply six coalfired utility steam generators for the ESKOM Medupi Power Station. The scope of supply includes the design, installation and startup of the utility steam generators. The generators each with a capacity of about 800 MW will be going on line one after the other within 3 years from 2011.
London – 2nd October 2007 Hitachi Europe Ltd unveils its Ashford Train Depot maintenance facility and six-car Class 395 ‘bullet train’ unit for Southeastern High Speed Services, at an opening ceremony in the presence of the UK Secretary of State for Transport, the Rt Hon Ruth Kelly MP and His Excellency Mr Yoshiji Nogami, Japanese Ambassador.
Hitachi Europe Ltd announces the delivery to the UK of the first six-car Class 395 ‘bullet train’ units for Southeastern High Speed Services. This first unit has been manufactured to the latest UK and European safety standards in Hitachi's manufacturing facility in Kasado Japan. A further 3 trains are currently being assembled and will be delivered over the coming months to carry out a comprehensive testing programme on the High Speed 1 line between Ashford and St Pancras and on the Kent network. The remaining 25 Trains will be delivered in 2009.
