GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy Excited to Support Hitachi GE Nuclear Energy’s Efforts to Bring Safe, Clean Nuclear Power to Lithuania

PRESS STATEMENT GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy Excited to Support Hitachi GE Nuclear Energy’s Efforts to Bring Safe, Clean Nuclear Power to Lithuania  Joint Venture Partners in Lockstep in Plans to Power Emerging Baltic Nation with the World’s Only Currently Operating Generation Three Reactor, the Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) In an effort to clarify its position and correct erroneous media reports, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) has published the following statement reiterating its support for joint venture partner, Hitachi GE Nuclear Energy (HGNE) and their plans to bring the ABWR to Visaginas.

The two partners are in agreement regarding the commercial development of this project and activities to support this project are ongoing in both Japan and Wilmington, N.C.

“Lithuania is an important part of our European strategy to serve as a showcase for our advanced technology with proven construction methods and cost predictability,” said Danny Roderick, Senior Vice President, Nuclear Plant Projects, GEH. “We support HGNE’s plans to participate in all aspects of this project.”

The partners continue to collaborate on key elements of the project and look forward to its continuation, ultimately delivering safe, green baseload power to this growing economy.
