Hitachi Power Europe and local subsidiary to build six utility steam generators in South Africa

Duisburg/Johannesburg 13 November 2007 Hitachi Power Europe GmbH (HPE) and its subsidiary Hitachi Power Africa (Pty) Ltd have received an order valued at some EUR 2 billion (ZAR20 billion) from ESKOM, the South African Electricity Utility. HPE is to supply six coalfired utility steam generators for the ESKOM Medupi Power Station. The scope of supply includes the design, installation and startup of the utility steam generators. The generators each with a capacity of about 800 MW will be going on line one after the other within 3 years from 2011.

BULLET TRAIN ARRIVES IN UK

Hitachi Europe Ltd announces the delivery to the UK of the first six-car Class 395 ‘bullet train’ units for Southeastern High Speed Services. This first unit has been manufactured to the latest UK and European safety standards in Hitachi's manufacturing facility in Kasado Japan. A further 3 trains are currently being assembled and will be delivered over the coming months to carry out a comprehensive testing programme on the High Speed 1 line between Ashford and St Pancras and on the Kent network. The remaining 25 Trains will be delivered in 2009.

HITACHI DEMONSTRATES WORLD LEADING TECHNOLOGIES AT IFA 2007

At this year's IFA in Berlin, Germany 31st August – 5 September 2007, Hitachi will showcase its latest innovations for the consumer electronics industry. Hitachi will exhibit a range of products and solutions on an impressive 772m² stand in Hall 23, Stand 102. Hitachi will display a number of products that are world firsts, including the world's first Blu-ray disc camcorder and a one terabyte (TB) hard disk drive (HDD) that can hold more than a million e-books or 250 hours of high definition video.

Hitachi Power Europe secures €2 billion order

Hitachi Power Europe GmbH today announced that they have been selected to supply the core components for three new power plants being developed by Electrabel, the leading Belgian energy supplier. One of the plants will be built in Maasvlakte in the Netherlands, the other two in Germany, one at Stade and the other in either Brunsbüttel or Wilhelmshafen. All three plants are scheduled to be fully operational in 2012.

Hitachi Europe is pleased to announce the introduction of the New DC Inverter Utopia IVX bringing Variable Refrigerant Flow to the Utopia range of air conditioners.
