London, September 15, 2017 --- Hitachi Europe Ltd. a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., today announced that Mr. Yoshiyuki Ogura has been appointed as Chairman of the Board, Hitachi Europe Ltd. Mr Ogura is currently Managing Director of Hitachi Europe GmbH (Germany), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Europe Ltd., and will also continue in this role. The new appointment will be effective 1 October, 2017.
Mr Ogura succeeds Mr Akira Shimizu who will resume his role as Vice President and Executive Officer, General Manager of the Government and External Relations Division of Hitachi, Ltd.
Before becoming Managing Director of Hitachi Europe GmbH, Mr Ogura was President of Hitachi High-Technologies Europe GmbH for three years from 2014, after moving to Germany from his role in Japan as General Manager of Global Business Strategy Division.
Having worked for Hitachi since 1980, he has extensive experience within the business, having also worked in China. In his new role, Mr Ogura will continue to be based in Germany, and he will lead Hitachi Europe Ltd.’s Board as well as helping the Hitachi Group in Europe to develop new business through building customer relationships and promoting Government relations.
