Latest Wylfa Newydd power station plans published for consultation

Gloucester, UK, 24 May, 2017 --- Horizon Nuclear Power’s third formal consultation starts today, 24 May, and finishes on 22 June, giving people the chance to have their say on updates to the project. 

The company is presenting a more compact power station design. It is also suggesting where and how it can best manage the impacts from construction and bring long term benefits to the community.

The world’s most prestigious engineering prize, the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering (QEPrize), today announces Hitachi, Ltd. as their latest corporate donor.

Hitachi, Ltd. joins BAE Systems, BP, GlaxoSmithKline, Jaguar Land Rover, National Grid, Nissan Motor Corporation, Shell UK Ltd., Siemens UK, Sony, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Steel Europe and Toshiba in supporting the prize.

Notification Regarding Change of Sub-subsidiary through Acquisition of Shares by Subsidiary

Tokyo, May 12, 2017 --- Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE:6501; “Hitachi”) today announced that Bradken Limited (Chairman: Phillip Arnall, “Bradken”) has become a consolidated sub-subsidiary of Hitachi and a consolidated subsidiary of Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. (President and Chief Executive Officer: Kotaro Hirano; “Hitachi Construction Machinery”), which is a consolidated subsidiary of Hitachi, on March 20, 2017 as a result of Bradken shareholders’ acceptance of the takeover offer for Bradken in Australia (the “Takeover Offer”). 

Hitachi Announces Recognizing Extraordinary Loss on Unconsolidated Basis

Tokyo, May 12, 2017 --- Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE:6501) today announced that it posted impairment loss on affiliated companies’ common stock of 187.8 billion yen for shares whose fair value decreased as extraordinary loss on unconsolidated basis for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2017. The major factor is related to the exit from the commercial development of a laser-based uranium enrichment technology by GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy Holdings LLC, in which Hitachi America, Ltd., Hitachi’s consolidated subsidiary owns a part of shares.  

Hitachi Enters the Lift Market in Europe with acquisition of UK-based Temple Lifts

London, 27th April, 2017 --- Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501, “Hitachi”) today announced it has entered the elevator market in Europe with the acquisition of Temple Lifts Ltd. (“Temple”), the UK-based company which manages the sales, installation, maintenance and repair of lifts in the UK. Hitachi will expand its elevator business into the UK by using Temple’s sales channel, knowledge and existing high quality technology in lift maintenance, adding Hitachi’s highly efficient products. 

Notification of Execution of Basic Agreement pertaining to Tender Offer for Shares of Subsidiary

Tokyo, Japan, April 26, 2017 --- Hitachi, Ltd. today announced that it has executed a basic agreement (the "Basic Agreement") with HKE Holdings G.K. (Executor: William Janetschek, "HKE"), which is indirectly held and operated by a related investment fund whose equity interests are wholly owned by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. (Co-Chairman and Co-CEO: Henry R. Kravis, George R. Roberts; including affiliate companies and other related business entities, collectively referred to as "KKR") , and with HVJ Holdings Inc.
